In need of individuals to make fabric surgical caps for nurses at INOVA Loudoun and INOVA Fairfax Hospital who are caring for COVID-19 positive patients.**This is not an official program through the hospital, it has been coordinated through nurses who have seen the need and are not able to get their own caps due to long shipping periods on Etsy and other websites, and volunteers who want to help fill that need.**

Nurses taking care of COVID-19 positive patients at our area hospitals are desperate for fabric surgical caps. They need to wear these caps full time and then put a disposable cap over their hair when they go in to care for an isolation patient.

Please only use materials you already have on hand or can order online. We do not want to put anyone in harms way by going to a store to purchase any supplies.

You can choose your own pattern, but below are several examples and tutorials:

Tips:

A good source of information is the public FB Group Sew A Cap.

You can use any fabric - but it is better if it is a tight weave like quilters cotton.
The caps can be any color and any pattern - it doesn't matter what it looks like. It just needs to cover their hair and stay on throughout the day.

If you are able, please attach buttons onto the sides of the caps to attach masks (optional, but appreciated).

Make sure that you print the patterns at 100% so that they are not skewed and check to make sure that all your pieces printed correctly.

This is not an official effort through INOVA Loudoun and INOVA Fairfax. These have been organized by nurses at each hospital and the nurses and doctors are very grateful for any help they receive!
