Each time a child mounts a horse for a therapy session, two volunteers and one therapist are on hand to help ensure the safety, effectiveness, and FUN of that session for the kiddo and the horse.With about 50 kids receiving services a week, we can use all the fabulous volunteers we can get!Don't know much about horses? Or working with kids of different abilities? No problem! You are invited to join the FREE volunteer orientation where you will learn the basics of horse care and handling and the Manes and Miracles Method to work with our equines and clients safely!This volunteer orientation is mandatory before volunteers are able to serve alongside a therapist during a riding session. Volunteers will have the opportunity to work directly with the horses, so whatever one's comfort level with horses may be, volunteers will leave the training with the knowledge they need to safely and effectively assist during a therapy session.*Once you have been trained, you will be invited to sign up for sessions as fits your schedule. Typically, they range Monday-Friday 8 am- 6 pm.**Volunteers must be 15+ and able to bend, walk for at least an hour, and lift at least 25 lbs and remain on task for at least 1 hour. All volunteers will undergo a background check.
