Educational Docents Volunteers are needed at the SLO Botanical Garden! Volunteers to conduct garden tours for adults, families, and college students. JOB DESCRIPTION:&nbsp;General Docents lead tours of the Garden to various groups and on various occasions. They describe the history of the development of the garden and its future mission, its devotion to plants from the five Mediterranean climate zones, the role of these plants in water conservation in the landscape, the various adaptations to dry summers that have occurred, the uses of these plants by people throughout history, the interaction between plants and animals who use them, and the public's role in making this garden a reality. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESConduct Garden tours of interest to the publicBe available periodically to be stationed in the Garden to answer questionsKeep informed about Garden plans and accomplishments The San Luis Obispo Botanical Garden is located near the Pacific Ocean on the Central Coast of California. When the Master Plan is complete, our 150 acre garden will be the only garden of its kind in the United States exclusively devoted to the ecosystems and plants of the five Mediterranean climate regions of the world. Other components of the plan include miles of paved trails; demonstration, meditation, and event gardens; an explosion of art; sustainable buildings for education and research; and creative modes of transportation to provide easy access to the inspiring views throughout the Gardens 500-foot elevation change.
